- Antenna Speculations
Antenna Mounting location
When it comes to performance, the mounting location is just as important as durability! There’s a common belief in the trucking world that two antennas are better than one. But that’s not quite the case. While having two antennas might look nicer, it’s important to consider what “working better” really means. If co-phased antennas are aimed mostly to the sides and that’s what the driver prefers, then sure, they might seem to work better in that situation!
However, most drivers really want to stay connected with people in front and behind the truck, which is why getting the antenna location just right is super important!
We hope the image below helps you find the perfect spot for your antenna, keeping in mind the direction of both the transmit and receive signals. As you can see in the bottom center image, aiming for 360° coverage is often the best approach. This guidance is effective for most vehicles, including pickup trucks!
